The performance index of high power inductor is mainly the size of inductance. In addition, the wire wound inductor generally has a certain resistance, usually the resistance is very small, can be ignored. However, when the current flowing in some circuits is very large, the small resistance of the coil can not be ignored, because the large current will consume power on the coil, causing the coil to heat or even burn out, so sometimes it is necessary to consider the electrical power that the coil can withstand.
Inductance
The inductance L represents the inherent characteristics of the coil itself and is independent of the current. Except for specialized inductors (color code inductors), the inductance is generally not specifically labeled on the coil, but is labeled with a specific name. Inductance, also known as self-inductance coefficient, is a physical quantity that indicates the self-inductance ability of the inductor. The size of the inductance of the shielded power inductors mainly depends on the number of turns of the coil, the winding method, whether there is a magnetic core and the material of the magnetic core, and so on. In general, the more coils are wound and the denser the coil, the greater the inductance. The inductance of a coil with a magnetic core is greater than that of a coil without a magnetic core. The higher the core permeability of the coil, the greater the inductance.
The basic unit of inductance is the Henry (abbreviated hen), which is represented by the letter "H". Commonly used units are also millihennes (mH) and microhennes (μH), and the relationship between them is:
1H=1000mH
Mh 1 = 1000 mu H
Inductive reactance
The size of the small inductorcoil obstructing the AC current is called inductive reactance XL, the unit is ohms, symbol Ω. It is related to the inductance L and the AC frequency f by XL=2πfL
