Bourns Releases AEC Q200 Qualified SMD Power Inductor for 800V EV & Automotive ADAS

July 8, 2026 | Riverside, California, USA Bourns, Inc. has unveiled a new automotive grade SMD power inductor series fully certified to AEC Q200 Grade 1, targeting 800V electric vehicle (EV) powertrains, on board chargers (OBC), battery management systems (BMS), 48V mild hybrid systems, and high performance ADAS domain controllers. 

This rugged SMD power inductor supports an extended temperature range of −55°C to +150°C and delivers superior resistance to vibration, humidity, and voltage transients typical in harsh vehicle environments. Its shielded molded construction minimizes magnetic radiation and improves EMC performance, while ultra low DCR and high saturation current enhance overall system efficiency.

 Bourns reported that the new SMD power inductor reduces power loss in high voltage DCDC converters by approximately 16%, supporting longer driving ranges and faster charging speeds in modern EV platforms. With automotive electrification accelerating rapidly, demand for high reliability SMD power inductor components continues to surge, and Bourns has expanded production lines in North America and Asia to secure supply for global automakers and Tier 1 suppliers.
