Gujing Electronics, a Chinese manufacturer of magnetic components, has solved a critical packaging challenge for compressor controller makers by developing a specialized bending process for toroidal inductors. The breakthrough came in response to a customer’s dilemma: a new toroidal inductor design met all electrical performance requirements but was too large to fit existing PCB layouts without reworking surrounding components.
Gujing’s engineering team developed a “stepwise progressive bending process” that reshapes toroidal inductor pins in three-dimensional space, enabling installation without modifying the inductor body or circuit design. The process achieves asymmetric bends with ±0.1mm tolerance control, avoiding physical interference while maintaining electrical integrity and thermal performance.
After 48-hour rapid prototyping, the bent toroidal inductors passed all performance tests, with mass production achieving a 99.8% yield rate. This innovation has enabled the customer to complete product upgrades without additional costs or delays, highlighting the versatility of toroidal inductors in adapting to constrained mechanical environments. The technology is now being extended to toroidal inductor applications in IoT devices, wearable electronics, and compact power supplies where space optimization is critical.
