Proper handling and installation of the core are vital for the reliable operation of high-frequency transformers. During the installation of a yoke on the core, particularly in high-frequency switching transformers, attention must be paid to the sharp corners of the core chips. Insulation measurements between oil channels should be conducted meticulously to prevent grounding issues. Failure to monitor these sharp edges can lead to multiple grounding points, which compromises the transformer's performance. For example, when dealing with a 120MVA 220kV transformer, a failure to measure the insulation between oil channels due to neglecting sharp corners resulted in a short circuit caused by the core chip’s sharp corner.
By carefully inspecting and measuring insulation during core installation, one can prevent such issues, ensuring the transformer operates efficiently and reliably. This attention to detail is particularly crucial in high-frequency pulse transformers and high-frequency switching transformers, where even minor oversights can lead to significant operational challenges.
