Low-frequency transformers are classified into three categories: interstage coupling transformers, input transformers, and output transformers, each designed for specific roles in audio amplification circuits.

Interstage Coupling Transformer: This transformer connects two amplifier stages, transmitting signals and ensuring the correct impedance conversion for optimal signal flow.

Input Transformer: Found in older radio systems, input transformers were used to couple signals between the audio push stage and power amplifier stage. They come in single-ended and push-pull versions based on the circuit requirements.

Output Transformer: Situated between the power amplifier's output and the loudspeaker, output transformers perform signal transmission and impedance matching. These transformers are also available in single-ended and push-pull designs.
