In a recent development, a leading electronics component manufacturer has introduced a new series of air coil inductors. These inductors are designed to offer high-Q (quality factor) values and low inductance values, making them ideal for a wide range of applications. The new series features a wire coil design without a magnetic core, which significantly reduces inductance and provides superior functionality at high frequencies.
With inductance values ranging from 22 to 150 nanohenry (nH) and a high Q value of at least 100, these air coil inductors are well-suited for high-frequency TV and radio receivers, radio transmitters, and RF amplifier and tuning applications.
The series also offers tight tolerance, with DC resistance from 4 to 33 milliohms, a maximum rated current of 1.2 to 3.50 A, and an operating temperature range of –25 to +125 °C. Additionally, the inductors are manufactured with an epoxy cover for added mechanical stability and feature a surface mount design, making them suitable for pick and place processes. This launch is expected to provide RF application designers with a wider range of high-Q solution options.
