Overview of Low-Frequency Transformer Types

Low-frequency transformers are essential components in audio and amplifier circuits and are classified into three primary types: interstage coupling transformers, input transformers, and output transformers. These transformers look like power transformers but are used differently in signal transmission.

Interstage Coupling Transformers: These transformers connect two amplifier circuits, facilitating signal transmission and impedance conversion for optimal performance between stages.

Input Transformers: Used in older radio designs, input transformers facilitate signal coupling between stages like the audio push and power amplifier. They can be designed for single-ended or push-pull circuits, depending on the amplifier's design.

Output Transformers: Placed at the output of the amplifier, these transformers ensure proper signal transfer to the speaker while matching impedance. Output transformers are also categorized into single-ended and push-pull types.
