Preventing Moisture Damage in High-Frequency Pulse Transformers

Moisture intrusion is a common concern for high-frequency pulse transformers, as it can lead to insulation degradation, short circuits, and system failures. To protect the transformer from wet conditions, there are two effective measures.
First, before the workday ends, it's essential to cover the high-frequency transformer securely and evacuate any moisture using a vacuum pump.
This step helps remove free water from the surface of the transformer. When the system is reactivated the next day, dry nitrogen or dry air should be used to purge any residual moisture. Typically, high-frequency pulse transformers can be put into operation after 24 hours of hot oil circulation following maintenance.
Second, regular rainproof measures should be implemented. After each workday, ensure the transformer is protected from external moisture sources by using rain covers and drying it with a hot oil spray. This drying process usually takes about 7–10 days, but it significantly improves the longevity and reliability of the transformer. By taking these steps, the risk of moisture damage to the high-frequency pulse transformer is minimized, ensuring consistent performance.
