Southeast Asia Becomes Emerging Hub for Toroidal Inductor Manufacturing as Supply Chains Diversify

Southeast Asia is emerging as a key manufacturing hub for toroidal inductors, driven by global supply chain diversification and growing local demand for electronics. Countries including Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand have attracted over $2.1 billion in investments from toroidal inductor manufacturers since 2023, according to the ASEAN Electronics Manufacturing Association. The region’s appeal stems from favorable trade policies, lower production costs, and proximity to major electronics assembly centers supplying global brands.

Toroidal inductor production in Southeast Asia focuses on mid-to-high-end applications, including 5G base stations, consumer electronics, and renewable energy systems. Local governments have introduced incentives such as tax holidays and infrastructure development to support magnetic component manufacturing clusters. Notably, Vietnam’s toroidal inductor exports grew by 42% in 2023, primarily to China, the U.S., and the EU, as companies leverage the country’s free trade agreements to reduce tariff barriers. Industry experts predict the region’s toroidal inductor production will account for 18% of global output by 2028, up from 11% in 2023.
