TDK Unveils AEC Q200 Qualified High Current Toroidal Inductor for 800V EV Platforms

May 20, 2026 TDK Corporation, a global leader in passive electronic components, has officially launched a new automotive grade toroidal inductor series optimized for 800V electric vehicle (EV) powertrains and onboard chargers (OBC). Designed to meet the stringent AEC Q200 reliability standard, this toroidal inductor operates reliably across −40°C to +150°C, making it suitable for the harsh thermal and vibration conditions of automotive applications.
 The device features a high density ferrite core with precision wound copper windings, delivering ultra low DC resistance (DCR), high saturation current, and extremely low magnetic flux leakage—typically below 0.5%. These characteristics significantly improve efficiency in high voltage DC DC converters and reduce EMI in vehicle power systems. 
TDK’s product line manager emphasized that 800V EV platforms are rapidly gaining traction, expected to account for over 65% of global EV production by 2030, which will drive strong demand for robust toroidal inductor solutions capable of handling high currents without thermal degradation. The new series is already in mass production and has been selected by major European and Asian automakers for 2026–2027 EV models.
