Toroidal transformers are widely used as power and isolation transformers in modern electronic systems, thanks to their compact structure, high efficiency, and stable performance. They are commonly found in household appliances as well as electronic equipment with higher technical requirements.
Globally, toroidal transformers are applied across a broad range of industries, including computers, medical devices, telecommunications, instrumentation, and lighting. Over the past decade, China’s toroidal transformer industry has developed rapidly, evolving from initial production to large-scale manufacturing. Today, domestic output not only meets local demand but also supports significant export volumes. Within China, applications are mainly concentrated in home appliances, audio equipment, automatic control systems, and quartz lamp lighting.
According to international technical references, toroidal transformers are generally classified into three types: standard, economical, and isolation transformers. Standard power toroidal transformers offer capacities from 8 to 1500 VA, featuring low voltage regulation, a full-load temperature rise of only 40°C, and short-term overload capability. Economical types, ranging from 50 to 1500 VA, focus on cost efficiency while maintaining stable performance, with full-load voltage deviation below 3%.
Isolation toroidal transformers, available from 50 to 1000 VA, emphasize enhanced insulation performance and safety. Medical-grade isolation transformers further comply with UL544 requirements, including thermal protection and increased clearance between windings and grounded shields.
