TDK launches high-temperature SMD power inductors for automotive applications

TDK, a world-renowned electronics company, has announced that it has launched a new CLF 7045-D power inductor that can withstand temperatures up to 150°C, making it ideal for high-temperature applications, including power circuits in the engine compartment of a car.

TDK has used its mature material technology to develop a new high-temperature resistant material, which is applied to the CLF 7045-D series of power inductors, enabling the series to maintain excellent efficiency and stability over a wide temperature range of -40°C to +150°C. The CLF 7045-D power inductor measures 6.9 x 7.2 x 4.5 mm³, with rated inductance values ​​ranging from 1µH to 470µH, rated current values ​​ranging from 0.43A to 8.9A, and DC resistance ranging from 9.6mΩ to 1.42Ω. This series of products is suitable for applications such as chokes in DC-DC converters of engine control modules, and can also be used in automotive headlight systems, airbags and anti-lock brake systems. In addition, TDK uses automated processes for the connection wires and coil windings of the CLF 7045-D series to achieve a high-quality solderless and substrate-free design, and began mass production in May 2012.
