High frequency transformers are integral to the operation of modern electronic devices, particularly in power supplies and signal transmission systems. These transformers consist of an iron core (or magnetic core) and multiple windings, including a primary coil connected to the power source and secondary coils that receive the induced voltage.

When alternating current passes through the primary coil, it generates an alternating magnetic flux in the core, which in turn induces a voltage in the secondary coil. The configuration of the windings determines whether the transformer steps up or steps down the voltage. A primary coil with more turns than the secondary coil will result in a step-down transformer, lowering the voltage. Conversely, a primary coil with fewer turns than the secondary coil creates a step-up transformer, increasing the voltage.

High frequency transformers are designed to ensure that the power transmitted from the primary to the secondary coil remains constant, minus any losses. This characteristic makes them indispensable in applications requiring precise voltage regulation and efficient power transfer, such as in power supplies for computers, communication devices, and other high-performance electronic equipment.
