SUZHOU – July 15, 2025 – Chinese vertical toroidal inductor manufacturers are making significant inroads into both domestic and global markets, challenging the dominance of Japanese firms such as TDK and Murata Manufacturing. According to data from the China Electronic Components Industry Association, domestic producers held a 55% share of the mid-range consumer electronics market in 2024, up from 38% in 2020, while their share of the automotive segment reached 32%, a fivefold increase over the same period.

Key to this growth is domestic manufacturers’ focus on technological innovation and cost optimization. Companies like Sunlord Electronics have invested heavily in 12-inch wafer-level packaging and automated winding and welding equipment, reducing production costs by 18% and improving product yield to 96.5%. In terms of performance, Chinese-made vertical toroidal inductors now match international counterparts in key metrics such as inductance tolerance (±5%), temperature coefficient (≤200ppm/°C), and reliability (failure rate below 10ppm).

Policy support has also played a crucial role, with the Chinese government’s “14th Five-Year Plan” for electronic components providing subsidies for R&D and production of high-end inductors. As a result, domestic patent applications for vertical toroidal inductor technologies surged to 6,800 in 2024, a 112% increase from 2022. “We are seeing strong demand from global customers, particularly in Southeast Asia and Europe, as our products offer a compelling combination of performance and value,” said a Sunlord Electronics executive.
