Power filter design involves balancing the suppression of both common-mode and differential-mode signals, with common-mode chokes playing a critical role. These chokes are known for their high inductance and small size, making them ideal for filtering out unwanted noise. However, an important factor to consider is leakage inductance, or the inductance that affects differential-mode signals. 

Leakage inductance can develop when the magnetic flux is not properly contained within the choke's core, especially if the coil windings are not tightly wound. This leakage can result in inefficiency and potentially lead to magnetic saturation if not properly managed in the design phase. Understanding and controlling this leakage is key to optimizing filter performance.
