February 28, 2026 Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a global leader in passive components, has expanded its product portfolio with a new ultra compact toroidal inductor series designed for wearable electronics, wireless earphones, smart sensors, and low power IoT modules.
Consumer electronics continue to shrink in size while demanding longer battery life and higher performance, creating challenges for power management components. Murata’s new toroidal inductor features a miniature toroidal core with a diameter as small as 3 mm and a profile height under 1.5 mm, making it one of the smallest power inductors available in the market.
Despite its tiny form factor, the component maintains stable inductance across a wide current range and offers low DCR, which helps extend battery runtime in portable devices. The closed magnetic structure of the toroidal inductor also minimizes electromagnetic leakage, reducing interference with sensitive RF circuits in wearables and IoT devices. Murata’s product marketing manager emphasized that the demand for miniaturized toroidal inductor solutions is accelerating as the IoT ecosystem expands, with billions of low power devices expected to connect to the internet in the next five years. The new series is now in mass production and available for global distribution.
