Transformers play a key role in electrical systems by converting AC voltage, current, and impedance. The core and coils work together to induce voltage in the secondary coil through the AC flux generated by the primary coil. In the design of high-frequency transformers, controlling leakage inductance and distributed capacitance is essential. Excessive leakage inductance can cause oscillations and surge currents, leading to higher losses, especially during the transmission of high-frequency pulse square wave signals in switching power supplies. Efficient transformer design places the primary winding in the innermost layer to reduce distributed capacitance and prevent energy losses.
