Low-frequency transformers are divided into three distinct categories: interstage coupling transformers, input transformers, and output transformers. Each of these serves a specialized function in audio and amplifier systems.

Interstage Coupling Transformers: Placed between two amplifier circuits, these transformers ensure efficient signal transmission while also handling impedance conversion.

Input Transformers: Found in older radio designs, these transformers provide signal coupling between the audio push stage and the power amplifier. They can be tailored for single-ended or push-pull circuits.

Output Transformers: Positioned at the output of the amplifier, output transformers transmit the signal to the speaker and match impedance. Available in both single-ended and push-pull varieties, they are crucial for signal integrity.
